Matthew 5:16

Let your light Shine
Day 38: Counting down to our Jubilee!

For 50 years, the Lord has used the ministry of Trinity United Church to be a light of Jesus Christ to the world locally, nationally and internationally. As a matter of fact, of the 16 years that I have been blessed to be a member, I have seen how the prophetic preaching, God-centered teaching, amazing music ministry, innovative ministry that meets the needs of God's people, justice advocacy for the least of these, focus on education and self-consciousness, as well as Christian Education and our poignant and proud stance that we are "Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian,” just to name a few, has become a beacon of light to many.

Matthew Five, verse 16, reminds us that each of us are to be light bearers, before men and women. We, individually and collectively, are to share and embody the Good News of Jesus Christ with all of those we encounter, so that they will glorify God for what God has done. God has surely done an amazing work in God's church, Trinity United Church of Christ, over the past 50 years. Let each of us take hold of the mantle, for the next 50 years, to be a bright light of love, joy, peace, truth, power, empowerment, hospitality and change, centered in Christ, in the presence of God's people; so that they might see and know God and glorify our God, for God's faithfulness and good works through us!

Prayer

God, we thank you for your light, witnessed in the life of Jesus Christ. And we thank you for how you have used our church to be a light for you in this world. We ask that you would continue to empower us to be a light for your people, in the years to come, so that others might know you and glorify you. This is our prayer, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thought for the day

Shining bright for God
