New Life in Christ

My family members and friends know that in addition to my love for Christ, I have a passion for restoring old items (furniture, tables, etc). Most items usually just need a few new screws and a coat of paint or varnish and a favorite spot in my home to gain the attention of guests. My guests will start by saying, “That is a beautiful table or chair. I love it. Where did you find it?” They flash a smile and then listen to “my story” of how I was headed to work on Monday, saw the item at my neighbor’s curb waiting for garbage collection; assessed its value; brought it home, repaired and refinished it. They are in awe of the finished products. If I sense that my family member or friend really love the item, it goes home with them.

The real story that is portrayed by my love for restoring these items is about how our Saviour does the same for us. Many of us were set out as useless by those we thought loved us. BUT GOD!!! Christ picked us up and put us back together and now we are servants for Him doing a work to bring others to Him. We may have needed a new screw (for loose thinking) or a coat of paint (“new creature in Christ”) to become useful or feel valuable again. Today we thank God for not allowing the garbage truck (works of Satan) to pick us up. We would have been further crushed, soiled, disintegrated and dumped in a landfill of sin. We would have never known our true value or purpose in life.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for seeing in me what I didn’t see in myself.
Thanks for refinishing and restoring me.
Thanks for giving me new life in You.
You are my Saviour.
I will forever love and trust you.
