Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV)

"And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."

How Deep Is your Love? 

Today I came across an old lyric written and performed by a group called the Bee Gees. The title of the song was “How Deep is your Love”. In my memory I thought it was a Rhythm and Blues song, but as I continued to read it took on a different meaning for me than in when it was a new song. It was a like a song with a gospel meaning. For example some of the lyrics out of sequence stated; I feel you touch me in the pouring rain and come to me on a summer breeze keep me warm in your love, then you softly leave; how deep is your love, how deep is your love? I really need to know.

The lyrics continue to say I believe in you, you know the door to my very soul, you’re the light in my deepest darkest hour, and you’re my savior when I fall, and it’s me you need to show how deep is your love.

I really need to learn more about the love God has for us because we’re living in a world of constants shifts that don’t recognize God for who He is. I don’t know about you my brothers and sisters; I know how deep God’s love is for me. I cannot make it through one day without Him. Love songs, love stories, and movies about love don’t even come close to the love God has for us, even for those who don’t know who He is. Sometimes we as Christians can find ourselves looking for love in all the wrong places. We should check the bible for it says in John 3: 16 That God so loved the world that he gave His one and only son for us; in John 15:13 the bible also says “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friend; Psalm 136:36 says “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.” John 15:9 says,” As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”

Prayer 

Oh heavenly Father it is clear to me without You there would be no love. For You are love. Help us to know and understand that the true meaning of love comes from You. Love is unconditional, and so is your love for us, your children. Thank you Father for the greatest gift of all, your love! Amen.

Thought for the day 

The Ephesians did not fully grasp God's love for them. If this is true of you, prayerfully study, and seek out the scriptures on God's love for you. As you read, ask God to help you believe, and accept the wonders of his mighty love for us and your life.
