Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter. I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. O Lord, save us; O Lord, grant us success. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you. The Lord is God, and he has made this light shine upon us. With boughs in hand, join the festal procession up to the horns of the altar. You are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (NIV) The Believer’s Praise to God Oh, how good it is to praise the Lord. The very last words in Psalm 150, which is the last psalm in the book of psalms says, “let everything that has breath, praise the Lord.” We also frequently hear in our church, “when the praises go up, the blessings come down.” In these verses, the writer of this psalm is simply stating that we should praise God just because He’s God! There is joy in praising God, there is deliverance in praising God, there is peace in praising God, and there is comfort in praising God. I encourage you that the next time you find yourself in the midst of a struggle, rather than questioning God, just start praising Him and then watch God work; “this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Prayer Lord, we thank You for the many blessings that You have given us, but most of all we thank You for the Love that You have provided through Jesus Christ, our Lord. In His Name we pray, with Thanksgiving. Amen! Thought for the day Because God’s love is unconditional, there is nothing that the Believer in Christ can do to earn it or to lose it! |
