Wait On the Bus There aren't too many of us who haven't experienced the phenomenon of waiting for a bus that seems will never show up. Picture this - you are at a bus stop waiting and watching, watching and waiting; it has been a minute and you don't see anything that even slightly resembles a bus, so you begin to walk. As you walk you pause every few steps to step out into the street and look back to see if you should continue your march of frustration or run with anticipation. Soon it feels like you have been walking for forever and a day, your legs are tired, dogs are barking, and you are upset as you anticipate arriving at your destination late . . . God's people were tired, it seemed like they would never be relieved from their state of exile, although God had promised to deliver them. Sounds like waiting on a bus that is supposed to be coming, but is nowhere in sight. Given their tiring attitudes, God told Isaiah to write this chapter as encouragement to the people, to let them know (just as I am telling you) your ride is coming, just wait for it. It may look like you have been waiting on your deliverance for a long time, but wait on it! When we decide to move before our vehicle arrives, we get tired . . . wait on the bus! When we make up our minds to go on our own, instead of waiting for the blessing that we have been told is coming, we often get caught between stops and the bus goes right on by us. But, if we just have a seat at the bus stop. If we sit still and wait on the bus we will have a chance to cool off! If we take the time to wait on the bus we can rest our feet! If we stop walking and wait our legs will be strengthened! If we are still and wait on the bus we will know that the Driver can get us to our destiny much faster than we can do it on our own! Prayer Lord I will wait because I know You are coming to carry me to my destiny. In Jesus name Amen! Thought for the day Stop the complaining about the service, stop trying to get there on your own, stop wasting your time and energy and wait for the bus! |
