Psalm 22

A Call Away

Not too long ago, I was really struggling with some things that were going on in my life. During that time, while out shopping, I ran into a friend that I had not seen for a very long time. During that encounter, we sought to catch up on everything that had occurred in our lives since we had last seen each other. As we concluded our conversation, my girlfriend told me, “If you ever need anything, please know that I am only a call away.”

In Psalm 22, the Psalmist was in distress. He felt abandoned by God. His enemies were hating on him. He was struggling and experiencing a great amount of pain because it seemed as if God was not hearing him. However, in the midst of his painful reality, he calls on the Lord. He calls on the Lord because he realizes that the Lord is just a call away.

In the midst of our despair, we too must realize that the Lord is a call away. Whenever, we need anything, all we have to do is call on the Lord and the Lord will be there. We can call God in the morning and God will be there. We can call God in the afternoon and God will be there. We can call God in the evening or in the midnight hour and God will be there. Matter of fact, not only will God be there, God is already there for us because God is a very present help in the time of storm! All you have to do is call on our God. God in Jesus is “God with Us”.

Prayer

Dear Lord, we call on You. Wrap us in Your presence as we move along in our day. Remind us in every moment that You are indeed present with us no matter what we go through.

Thought for the Day
Call on the Lord.
