Isaiah 40:3-5

³ A voice of one call: “In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Preparing the Way for the Lord

Looking at Isaiah 40, I can see how we as children of our God can make preparation for a life long journey with our God. In the wilderness places in our hearts, those secret places that we don’t want anyone to know about, we must make a straight highway for the Lord our God. The low hidden unproductive valleys have to be lifted up to the Lord so that we can produce a life that lifts up our savior and produces good work. The mountains and hills of living life “my way,” shutting God out, has to be made low, giving God full access to all areas of our life. The uneven paths that are so hard to travel and the rough places have to be planed smooth. At that time God’s glory will be revealed in us, and mankind will see it.

Prayer

Loving and caring God, help me to go into my heart and prepare myself to receive Your presence in my life, that You may be seen in all of Your glory in my life. Amen.

Thought for the Day
Be open to the Lord.
