Rev. Aaron J. McLeod

Proverbs 3: 5-6

Recently, I was having a conversation with another single parent about being parents, having children, and other various life changing occurrences. After relaying to me an issue regarding the dynamics of a bad relationship, she said to me, “I just don’t understand.” While I was speechless, I felt compelled to remind of her of the most appropriate passage of scripture when you are uneasy about life’s challenges. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Prov 3:5)

This scripture is so comforting to me. I too have been victim to confusion, short sightedness, and fear. Often, I get caught up in trying to make sense of things with my mortal and utterly limited mind. However, I have to remind myself that God knows there will be times where we just don’t understand issues of our life. Still, we must trust God’s word and follow God’s directions. Further, “in all [our] ways acknowledge God, and trust that God will direct our paths.” (Prov 3:6)

Prayer

Precious Lord, we thank You that You are a God of clarity and lucidity. We trust and acknowledge You. This is our prayer and our most humble supplication. Amen

Thought for the day

Be glad and grateful that God lifts off of us the burden of having to understanding everything. He has blessed us with only having to trust Him as He is in control.
