Acts 12

“… So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him…the chains fell off Peter's wrists. Then the angel said to him, "Put on your clothes and sandals."… Peter followed him out of the prison…he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. Peter knocked at the outer entrance…"Peter is at the door!" "You're out of your mind," they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, "It must be his angel. But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.”

What did you expect?

Are circumstances crouching upon that peace which is supposed to surpass all understanding? Is your joy being zapped by the hindrances of living? Well, if you answered yes to any of the above, then the next question most certainly must be asked. Have you prayed about it? Have you whole heartily sought God in answering the dilemmas that have encircled your existence? If you have, then you must have confidence in knowing that the answers are on the way.

Look at the people mentioned in this Acts 12 passage. They had been praying and when the prayer was answered, they could not believe it. I confess I too am guilty of doubting. Not that I don’t believe that God answers prayer, but sometimes it’s the doubt that He will answer my prayer. God reminds us to not be surprised when He answers our prayers. Scripture tell us that we have not because we ask not? So when we ask, do we trust that He will answer? Not because of anything we’ve done or earned. Just because He loves us and cares!

So, my last question to you this day is, what do you expect?

Prayer

Lord, this day, help me to realize how much You love me. Father, allow me to remember all those times in which Your love embraced the pain that I was going through. In Jesus name, Amen.

Thought for the day
